MUNICIPAL COURT
Where is
the court located?
The court is held at the Lakewood Village Town Hall
at 100 Highridge Drive.
What are
the hours of operation?
Town Hall is open Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m.
However, court dates are scheduled as needed.
What can I
do about my court case?
You may either pay the fine amount, request a court
appearance or request probation. If you fail to meet the deadlines
as set out by the court or fail to appear for your court date as
required, a Failure to Appear (FTA) will be charged against you and will
result in an additional fine and a warrant issued for your arrest.
Can anyone
take care of my case for me?
State law will only allow a licensed attorney to act
on the behalf of someone else.
How much
is my case going to cost?
You may contact the Municipal Court office
during normal business hours, and give your case number or name and
court personnel will be able to tell you the amount of your fine. Please
allow three (3) working days for the case to be entered into our
computer system before making an inquiry.
Do you
accept checks?
Yes. Checks must be made out to Lakewood Village Municipal Court. Two party checks are not acceptable.
Returned checks will result in a $25.00 expense fee being assessed and
your case will be considered open and a warrant may be issued for your
arrest until the fees have been paid in full.
What Is
Deferred Disposition?
Deferred disposition is up to six-months
unsupervised probation. During the deferral period, you cannot receive
another violation of the same nature. To qualify for deferred
disposition, you cannot currently be on a deferred disposition program
at this court or any other court. You cannot have completed a deferred
disposition program in the last 12 months.
