Through responsible outdoor lighting, the Town seeks to safeguard the natural cycle of day and night that wildlife depends on, while preserving the nighttime environment as part of the community’s heritage and quality of life.
This stewardship also reflects a practical commitment to residents and neighboring communities. By reducing glare, sky glow, light trespass, obtrusive light, and energy waste, Lakewood Village promotes lighting that is safe, attractive, efficient, and respectful of neighboring properties. These efforts support sound environmental policies, protect public health and welfare, reduce unnecessary lighting expenses, and set a positive example for surrounding municipalities.
